Jhaveri stays away, no word on Neville joining SRTT board
MUMBAI: A Tata Trusts board meeting on Wednesday was marked by the absence of ex-Citi CEO Pramit Jhaveri, whose six-year term as a trustee ended on the same day after he opted not to seek reappointment. It was also marked by lack of discussion on appointing chairman Noel Tata's son, Neville Tata, to the Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT) board. The issue was not on the agenda either. Trustees instead deliberated on fund disbursements for social projects and other matters. It remains unclear when Neville's appointment will be taken up by the SRTT board. At the previous SRTT meeting in Jan, his appointment was on the agenda, but the meeting was cancelled. Under SRTT's trusteeship rules, the appointment of a board member requires unanimous approval. Neville's appointment was first proposed at SRTT in Nov 2025. However, the matter was deferred on vice chairman Venu Srinivasan's suggestion. With the Jan meeting cancelled and no proposal taken up on Wednesday, it suggests trustees may require more time to consider it.
